Since its inception in March 2005, the West/North West Leeds Community Drug Service has provided a high standard of care for substance miss-users in West and North West Leeds. This has meant building a new team from scratch, establishing a main site, and locality clinics throughout both these areas.

It has established a strong, multidisciplinary team, and provided a high standard of holistic care, offering clients not only pharmacotherapy, but also structured psycho-social interventions, help with housing, employment and education, and support for significant others. It has pioneered within Leeds a more comprehensive treatment package; including activities groups and patient involvement group (please see first attachment). Patient feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. It has also worked hard to revitalise relationships with GP’s, both shared care and non-shared care (please see second attachment).
