A guide to Ultra-Processed Foods (UPFs)

Barca's Better Together team are proud to launch two awareness raising leaflets on ultra-processed foods (UPFs), produced in partnership with Leeds Trinity University. The leaflets contain information about what UPFs are, the health impacts of them and ideas on how to swap UPFs for healthier whole foods.

As part of the project, a team of Nursing students from Leeds Trinity University produced the content for the leaflets after speaking to over 100 parents about UPFs in order to get a better understanding of what they knew, why they might buy UPFs and what may help them make a change.

Additional feedback was provided by parents who attended West Leeds Recipe Station to further develop the leaflets and provide insights into the content that would be most useful to them. For example, links to information on supporting neurodivergent children and young people.

Digital copies of the leaflets can be downloaded below. Hard copies of the leaflets are available to order from Leeds City Council's Public Health Resource Centre.
