The Barca-Leeds Mentoring in Schools service provides mentoring and support interventions exclusively for young people attending Leeds City Academy. Working in close partnership with the teaching staff, and other local stakeholders, it supports young people to address and reduce the risk factors in their lives enabling them to lead healthier happier lives.
Support is offered through a number of activities including one to one, group work, wider family support, detached youth work and community groups. The project delivers the Barca-Leeds model of working with young people, where a trusted worker sits in the middle of the ‘Family, School, Community’ triangle working in a trauma informed way on the issues most important to the young person, enabling them to make informed decisions that lead to re-engagement with their family, school and community.
100% of young people who completed the end of service survey said they felt Barca-Leeds had made a positive difference to their lives.
"I had no idea what I was doing when you first came to my school. You changed everything for me, I want to be a youth worker and help others how you helped me."
