Bright Horizons is available to parents and carers living in West or South Leeds who are currently not in employment.
Parents and carers of children aged up to 18 are eligible to receive support in addition to those with children aged 18 to 25 who have an Education, Health and Care plan (EHCP).
Parents and carers can refer themselves or be referred, by any other organisation, by completing and emailing a form to: brighthorizons@barca-leeds.org
The team work with each person to help them achieve their goals, including creating a career plan, gaining work experience, providing emotional and parenting support, and offering housing and money advice. The service is delivered across West and South Leeds by a partnership of Barca-Leeds and Health For All.
Up to 6 months of personalised support for jobless parents and carers, helping them develop a personal action plan to build their resilience and move them closer to employment. Support is tailored to each person and can include:
Following an initial assessment to explore suitability for support, we offer up to 12 weeks one to one counselling support provided by a counsellor (qualified, volunteer or student on placement) all are supported and managed by a fully qualified and experienced therapist. These sessions can be delivered face-to-face at Manor House in Bramley, a location in South Leeds or remotely over video platform Microsoft Teams.
Delivered from local community venues in West and South Leeds, our monthly drop-in peer support group provides a safe space for people to coach each other and build new networks. The group is facilitated by a staff member from the Bright Horizon’s team and co-facilitated by a volunteer Counsellor, with topics and themes led by people accessing the group.
All our therapists that work within our counselling services are fully trained and experienced professionals, or supervised students in some instances, and work in accordance with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) ethical framework. The team utilise a range of modalities including (but are not limited to): humanistic, psychodynamic, cognitive behavioural, relational, integrative approaches, play and art based approaches.
