The STT team support people who are homeless and still sleeping rough, prior to any accommodation offer being made.
Referrals to this service are jointly decided by the Street Support Partnership chaired by Safer Leeds, Support teams and Leeds Housing Options along with other partners to identify and allocate referrals into this service. This ensures that key agencies are working closely together to enable the choices of individuals that maximise successful outcomes and provide the right level of support.
For many people who have not had regular accommodation and have slept rough for long periods the move into a tenancy is difficult. The STT team uses the Housing First model and provides the extra support needed to help people transition from living on the streets into their own home so that they have a safe and secure long term home.
Housing First is a housing and support approach which prioritises access to permanent housing with tailored wraparound support for people who have experienced multiple disadvantage and homelessness. Providing secure accommodation creates a stable place for individuals to address the issues and barriers they face enabling them to rebuild their lives.
