Stronger Families (Closed Service)

The Stronger Families programme helped and supported families across Leeds who have barriers to accessing education or training and gaining skills for work and employment. Barca-Leeds were proud partners in delivering the service.

Who is the service for?

Jointly funded by European Structural Fund and the National Lottery (Building Better Opportunities), and delivered by a number of other third sector partners, Barca-Leeds led the Stronger Families hub here in Leeds, and was the single point of contact for all referrals and enquiries.

Stronger Families supported families with dependent children enabling them to progress into work, education or training. By working with the parent and family as a whole, adopting the key principles of Think Family, Work Family, key workers supported families with overcoming a range of barriers into work such as health and wellbeing, debt advice and housing support, as well as focusing on employability and skills building.

Key workers worked regularly one-to-one with the participant, over the course of about 6 months, to focus on both their barriers and strengths to tailor the support offered to enable the parent feel ready for work, training or education.
