Celebrating Employability Day 2025

Employability Day 2025 takes place on 20 June to recognise and celebrate the incredible work across the employment support sector. Organised by Employment Related Services Association (ERSA), it provides a platform to showcase the life-changing impact of employment support services. The theme for this year is “Inactivity to Opportunity to Good Work”.

At Barca-Leeds we work alongside partners to empower people of all ages to overcome the barriers they face in finding meaningful employment. We’re proud to deliver tailored support through our employment support services that builds confidence, improves health and wellbeing, develops skills and boosts resilience.

Bright Horizons

Bright Horizons supports parents and carers across West and South Leeds to achieve their goals in work and training. Delivered in partnership with Health For All, this service provides personalised one to one support as well as up to 12 weeks of counselling support. Find out more about Bright Horizons.

Pathways to Progress

Pathways to Progress, a partnership of organisations across West Yorkshire, led by the Education Development Trust (EDT), supported economically inactive people across the region towards training or employment. Read our Pathways to Progress Impact Report.

“At first I thought it would be a challenge, but with your care, patience, understanding and kindness, I began to believe in my abilities to move on and get myself back into the working world. You have given me confidence and drive.”

Nxt Steps

Between October 2023 and March 2025, the Nxt Steps service delivered tailored employability support for NEET young people aged 16 to 17 and up to 24 for care leavers, young people with an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) or at risk of NEET. The programme was delivered in partnership by Barca-Leeds, LS14 Trust, Leeds City Council Youth Service and LS-Ten, through a mixture of one to one support, group work and a residential. Read the Nxt Steps Impact and Learning Report.

“I'm glad I came to this group because it helped me face my social anxiety and I feel a lot clearer about my next steps to becoming a carer.”
